PO signature in a couple of places. Contents are foxed and pages show the effects of being stored in a humid area for a long period of time. The author, nicknamed "pump" was a flamboyant newpaper-man in Madison, WI. The authors anti-Republican views at the time of the Civil War are expressed.

The binding is a little tight, so the inner margins are slightly awkward to read. [Hierocles of Alexandria was a Greek Neoplatonist writer who was active around AD 430.
