Pages and binding are presentable with no major defects. Minor issues present such as mild cracking, inscriptions, inserts, light foxing, tanning and thumb marking. Overall a good condition item. Boards have mild shelf wear with light rubbing and corner bumping. Some light marking and tanning. Boards are slightly bowed.

Wells: Clare, Son & Co Ltd, 1936. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. First edition and printing. In fair light tan cloth boards, red titles to front. The boards are quite firm, with slight damage to hinge; marked around the edges; corners and spine ends bumped and frayed. Fairly clean end papers; the rear free end papers are foxed; name on front free end paper. Tanned cut edges; the fore and tail edges are deckled. The text block is tightly bound and in very good condition, without tanning; some light marks to end pages. With b/w photos. Condition of boards/text block is very good minus. Not annotated. Without jacket.

Wells: Clare, son & co, 1937. Second edition (hardback). 8vo (23cm by 15cm), 127pp. Frontispiece, plates. Original brown cloth, titling printed in red on the front board. The binding is a little dusty, and there is some foxing of the endpapers; overall, this book is in good plus condition. Signed and inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper.
