Board of Education (1954). Rowan (1925-2000) rose to prominence with his reporting on the Civil Rights Movement for The Minneapolis Tribune. Later, he served in both the Kennedy and Johnson administrations, including as director of the United States Information Agency (USIA), a position that made him the highest ranking African American in the United States government. Octavo. Original red cloth binding, with black and gilt titles. Previous owner's ink signature to the front flyleaf. Light bump to the top corner of the rear board. The dust jacket is a bit rubbed; otherwise very good.
