About This Item
New York: Four Winds Press, 1973. Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. This is a fresh, bright copy with an unmarked interior, clean covers with just a touch of wear at tips and corners, and a very good dust jacket. The jacket has two short (under 1 inch) closed tears, but little other wear. The jacket is now in a protective mylar cover and looks very attractive. Synopsis: Here are three amusing tales from Russia -- each about someone who knows that to get the best out of life, one must have his wits about him! The title story, "Going to Moscow", relates how a seemingly inform old man cheerfully accepts the kindnesses offered by his fellow passengers on the coach to Moscow. In "Fishing All Day", young Nikki turns down an offer to become very rich -- because he sees exactly where such great wealth will lead him. "Fat Olga" tells how a greedy peasant woman gets her comeuppance when she tries to cheat a young man named Grisha out of his goat. Grisha turns out to be just a bit more clever than she is.
