About This Item
This is a stated first edition (1964) of The Golden Casket, Chinese Novellas of Two Millennia.
It is 46 novellas, each with a little illustration.391 pages, including explanatory notes.
The stories were originally translated into German by the Austrian writers Herbert Franke and Wolfgang Bauer, then translated into English by the Canadian poet Christopher Levenson.
This was originally a library book, but the dust jacket is pristine, save for some fading to the spine and some old tape marks at the corners. The covers of the book are also perfect, except for the library tape, which can be steamed off.Inside, the front endpaper has been removed.
The name of the library has been stamped on the notes page only. There are two fingerprints on page 22.
Other than that, the book is in perfect condition.
