Spine strip and edges are faded; moderate edge wear, light rub marks, front inner hinge is cracked, gift inscription on free endpaper. 384 pages..

New York, New York: Charles E. Merrill Company, 1914. One of Merrill's English Texts . Hardcover. Very Good/None. On the ffep is written in fountain pen, in the script of an earlier day, the name of a prior owner: Herbert Potter. 251 pages. An inspection of the rest of the work shows no apparent underlining nor highlighting, no bookplates, no dogeared or folded pages, binding is tight, not ex-libris. In addition, I find no foxing, and just minimal page discoloration. Lettering on the cover and spine is readable, but not vibrant. There is wear at the head and tail of the spine and corner wear and edgewear. However, all in all, for a book around a century old it is in excellent shape.

Pages are mostly clean overall, with moderate tanning and some foxing throughout. Binding is slightly shaky, however all pages remain attached. Top text block edge dyed red. Faint black marks to fore edge of text block. Boards have slight edge wear with corner bumping. Mild tanning to spine and edges with some crushing to spine ends. Faint water staining to front board. Book is bowed and forward leaning.

Revised and Enlarged - Two Volumes in One. Previous owner's name on inside of cover. Inside pages are very clean & tight.
