About This Item
In 1997, while Kevin Killian was assisting artist Fran Herndon with the preparation of her archive, they came upon the unpublished manuscript of this serial poem by Jack Spicer, which had been part of a collaboration with Herndon, a follow-up in a sense to their collaboration on the Homage to Creeley series that had been published as the first section of Spicers book The Heads of the Town up to the Aether. As Killian writes in his afterword, The first poem in this series saw printin the Spicer issue of Manrootonly because Lew Ellingham had copied it onto a brown paper bag after Spicer pasted it on the wall of Gino & Carlos bar. That it had any successors few guessed or knew.
The entire series is here published for the first time, illustrated with reproductions of seven of the collages that Herndon made as part of the project. This is one of her artists copies, a handful of which remained in her library at the time of her death in May 2020.
