Original publisher's pictorial full green cloth binding lettered in gilt and decorated with gilt, dark green, and a small photo-gravure of Rev. Brooks. Spine lettered and decorated similarly. Cover gilt is bright and image is crisp. Top edge gilt. Spine clean. Very mild wear to base and head of spine. Corners sharp. Contents clean. Hardbound. Very Good. Phillips Brooks (1835-1893) was an American Episcopal clergyman and author, long the Rector of Boston's Trinity Church and briefly Bishop of Massachusetts, and particularly remembered as lyricist of the Christmas hymn, 'O Little Town of Bethlehem'. In the Episcopal liturgical calendar he is remembered on January 23. NW63. Hardcover. Very Good.
