A rather cheaply produced book, thus nearly fine in a clipped jacket with some wear at extremities and some tape reinforcements to the verso.

Includes Frank Butler's screenplay for A Medal for Benny in its entirety, includes credits, setting, and text, 589-648, it also includes b&w photos from the film which was based on a story by John Steinbeck and his boyhood friend, Max Wagner, Goldstone & Payne B45, not recorded by Morrow, it also includes the screenplays for Lost Weekend, Spellbound, Double Indemnity (Raymond Chandler), and several others. Very good.

Garden City, Doubleday, Doran, 1934, first edition, dust jacket. Hardcover.. This is John Steinbeck's second contribution to a book other than his own, it includes his short story, The Murder, plus a brief biography, pages 176-192, text from the April 1934 issue of The North American Review, this vintage anthology also includes William Saroyan, Pearl Buck, Erskine Caldwell, William Faulkner, Thomas Wolfe, and others, Goldstone & Payne B2, not recorded by Morrow, very scarce in jacket. Very good minus.

First issue with line 16-17, page 5 reading "with proper credentials and apparently" that in subsequent issues read "with proper credentials and who," also with 20 titles by Conrad listed opposite the title page which in subsequent editions lists 21 titles, also with the error noted by Keating 126 on lines 6 and 7, page 248, the American edition precedes the British by four months, Cagle A38a(1), Smith 22. Bit of age, very nearly fine.

The first full-length critical study of Steinbeck, Goldstone & Payne F42, Morrow 591, very scarce in the first printing, this is a Review Copy with review slip, very scarce thus. Fine in a very good jacket.

Washington, D. C., Government Printing Office, January 20, 1965, first edition, wrappers. Softcover.. With frontispiece photo portrait of LBJ with a facsimile of his signature, although he is not credited as such, Nobel Prize-winning author John Steinbeck contributed to this speech, not recorded by Goldstone & Payne. Fine.

One of 500 numbered copies edited by Dr. Robert DeMott, this is a letter from Steinbeck to family friend and fellow writer Dennis Murphy, with a prospectus for the book laid in loosely, issued on what would have been Steinbeck's 83rd birthday as a fund-raiser for the Steinbeck Research Center at San Jose State University. As new, unread.

Second issue jacket with a lengthy commentary by John Steinbeck which is prominently featured all over the jacket (the first issue jacket is simply illustrated without being plastered with Steinbeck's praise for this experimental novel), Goldstone & Payne G30, not recorded by Morrow. Fine in a near fine jacket.

Jacket illustrated by Artzybasheff, frontispiece portrait of Henry Morgan, Braley writes of Morgan in ballad, and, in his prefatory comments, thanks John Steinbeck for his conscious and subconscious contributions that resulted from Braley's having read Steinbeck's first book, Cup of Gold, the book also prints a letter from Steinbeck to Braley regarding this subject, this was Steinbeck's first book contribution, Goldstone & Payne B1, Morrow 306, with a b&w photo of Braley laid in loosely. Very good in a clipped jacket with tape reinforcements to verso.
