New York: Hearst Corporation, 1945. First Edition, First Printing. Original wraps. Very Good. 8 1/4 X 11 Inches. 168 PP. Original, complete issue of Good Housekeeping magazine for January, 1945. Original price of 35 cents on front cover. This copy contains ONE OF ONLY TWO PRE-FILM MAGAZINE PRINTINGS OF THE ORIGINAL STORY THAT 'IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE' IS BASED ON. Stern self-published his 200 copies of "The Greatest Gift" booklet in 1943. The book itself was published in December of 1944. Both magazine printings, one in Reader's Scope and one in Good Housekeeping were published in December of 1944. This January issue of Good Housekeeping is dated 1944 in the copyright details (it had to be ready for January, 1945). Original perfect binding a bit scuffed with a bit of paper loss to the foot and crown of spine. Slight separation at spine where mailing label was removed from front cover. Overall, a collectible condition copy of one of the scare, early printings of the story that became the greatest Christmas movie of all-time.
