In the preface to this edition Mr. Teale explains that he was able to incorporate a number of textual changes in the interests of increased accuracy or clarity. He also enlarged the bibliography and added an Entomological Epilogue, listing the scientific names of many of the insects mentioned. The material for this book comes from an ordinary backyard with insects that are constantly around us. Tells the life cycle of twenty different insects -- butterflies, ants, spiders, katydids, aphids, bees and so on.
