About This Item

New York: Viking Press, 1950. Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. First edition. A little soiling on the boards, very good or better in near fine price-clipped dustwrapper. Inscribed by the author's daughter, Tony Award-winning actress Marian Seldes to her mentor, the actress Katharine Cornell, over two pages: "Katharine Cornell - with love, Marian, the daughter" and below that is Inscribed by Gilbert Seldes, Marian's father: "To which is added the love and admiration of her father and the author." Laid-in are two notes from Robert N. Adams to Marian Seldes dated in 1981, sending the book to Marian, after he found it in the library of a home that he had just purchased in Millbrook, New York. Also laid-in is an offprint of the original review of the book from *The New Yorker.* A nice, multiple association copy of this important study of movies, radio, and television.
