A few light foxed spots and toning to edges, soft diagonal crease to upper right image. Signed in the plate. With text sheet. Plate # 60 from George Edwards "A Natural History of Birds, Most of which have not been figured or described and others very little known..." published in London between 1743 and 1751. This plate features a brightly colored horned owl. Edwards, a friend of Sir Hans Sloane and Mark Catesby, is a pivotal figure in ornithological history. .
