A very scarce work, stated on Copac as held only at the British Library, the Imperial War Museum, and the National Library of Wales. This work is a yearbook of the British Navy, remembering the year of 1915 and the battles fought by the Navy in that year of the First World War. With a section of the Navy's immortal names, noting those lost at sea during the war. Illustrated with a frontispice, one folding map and one folding plate, thirty-one full page illustrations, as well as some in-text illustrations showing the various uniforms of the Navy. Folding map showing a map of the North Sea, and the folding plate showing prominent British Navy ships. Compiled by Lionel Yexley, a naval reformer who joined the navy when he was a teenager. Yexley spent his career fighting for better conditions on the Lower Deck of the Royal Navy. He founded this work in 1906. With sixty-four pages of adverts to the front. Prior owner's ink inscription to the front pastedown, from a Thomas Moffett Potts, who served in the Royal Navy Reserve. Condition: Rebound in a half calf binding with cloth to the boards. Externally, the head and tail of the front joint, and the tail of the rear joint are lifting but remain firm. Rubbing to the joints and to the spine. Light marking to the boards. Prior owner's ink inscription to the front pastedown and to the recto to the front endpaper. Front hinge is starting but remains firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and clean. Very small closed tears to folding map and folding plates close to the gutter. Overall Condition: Very Good.
