[Harmondsworth, Middlesex, England]: Penguin Books [1950], 1950. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good+/Very Good. Small 8vo. [7], 8-35, [57] pp. Pictorial boards. Price of '3/-' on the front flap of the dust jacket. Illustrated with 55 or so black and white photographs of 54 Greek terracottas from antiquity (dating from the seventh to the first century B.C.E.). According to the volume, this book was the first English publication in fifty years to explore the history of Greek terracottas. Professor T.B.L. Webster was an archaeaologist and a classics scholar at the University College of London. This book is from the library of Bruce Bryan, a curator of archaeological artefacts for the Southwest Museum in southern California. Bryan was also an archaeologist for the Los Angeles Field Museum of Natural History (Legacy Obituaries, "Bruce Bryan"). The front pastedown contains his bookplate and the front flyleaf has his name in ink. A Very Good+ book with the boards slightly warped; dust jacket is Very Good with a few traces of edge wear and a hint of spotting to the front panel.
