Los Angeles: Ward Richie, 1929. Octavo. 2pp. This is the second production noted in the bibliography of premier Southern California printer, Ward Richie. The edition consisted of 150 copies; it was a student project, done while Richie attended Frank Wiggins Trade School in Los Angeles. The choice of a Carl Sandburg poem is significant, as Sandburg and Richie shared a longtime friendship with Los Angeles bookseller and publisher, Jake Zeitlin. This is one of the scarcest of early Sandburg editions. 1printed sheet printed on [2]pages folded laid into 1 printed folded sheet (wrapper) lightly finger soiled with small chip to rear wrap. A very good copy.

Dallas, Texas; (1977): The Texas Arts Journal, Cameron Northouse. Limited Edition. Quarto. Limited to only 22 copies, 109pp., illustrated, folder contains a typed manuscript from page 34 of Updike's play and is signed. The Texas Arts Journal is published only four times a year with contributor's such as William Saroyan, John Updike, Morse Peckham, George Garrett, James Purdy and Glyn Jones. Fine and housed in a custom slipcase.

Philadelphia; (1988): Temple Univ Pr. First Edition. Octavo. 328p. index. A very nice inscription: "to George Alperts, many thanks, never B#, Never Bb; just B natural [symbol] all the best Milt "Judy's" Hinton with sketch of bass and dated 89. With a foreword by Dan Morgenstern. Illustrated throughout with black and white photographic images. Hinton was considered the "Dean of bas players" and experienced the jazz world firsthand for more than five decades. He was a member of Cab Calloway's orchestra for sixteen years. He played with most of the jhazz greats of this century including Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Billy Holiday and several other of the jazz greats. `A near fine copy bound in red cloth, spine lettering black, in a very good pictorial dust jacket with one small closed tear and chip to rear panel.

Berlin: S. Fischer, 1922. First Edition. Wraps. Owner name of George Goetz dated 1939 on the front endpaper well above Hesse's inscription with a small stain at the bottom corner well below Hesse's inscription. A few marginal pencil notations, likely by Goetz. Some aging to the paper but at least Very Good and very scarce when signed. Thin octavo (5-3/4" x 8-3/4") bound in the publisher's heavy brown wraps with black lettering on the front cover and a later cloth tape hand-lettered spine; [1-8], 9-146, [-147], [1, blank], [2, publisher's ads]. The true First Edition with the text in German of one of this Nobel Prize winner's two famous and important novels, the other being of course STEPPENWOLF. This copy is SIGNED in ink by the author with a brief inscription on the front endpaper. Hesse based this book on the early life of Gautama Buddha.
