This listing includes six original Grolier Club exhibition catalogs (handlists really, there are no illustrations) housed in a period slipcase with a leather spine. Included are: Engraved Portraits, Being the Effigies of the Most Famous English Writers from Chaucer to Johnson, 1891; English Literary Portraits, 1898; Engraved Portraits of Actors, 1907; Portraits Engraved by William Faithorne, 1893; Engraved Portraits of Washington Commemorative of the Centenary of His Death, 1900; and Engraved Portraits of French Authors to the Close of the Eighteenth Century, 1895. All are in very good condition with light edge wear and light, uneven yellowing of the wraps. There is a small, light stain on the cover of English Literary Portraits and a half-inch tear on the back cover of French Authors. All bindings are solid and all pages intact. The slipcase has light overall wear, bumping and wear to the rear corners and scuffs and scratches to the leather-covered spine (see photo). The gilt spine titles are nice and bright. No writing, highlighting, names, or bookplate. NOT ex-library. We ship our books in boxes or cardboard wraps, never in bags.
