About This Item

Toronto: Oxford University Press, 1946. 1st Edition. Hard Cover. Near Fine/Good. 8vo. Original brown cloth, dark brown labels to spine and front board. xvi, 381 pp. [13] plates, some in colour, incl. colour frontis. Some bumping to spine ends and corners. Bookplate to ffep. Dust jacket is worn at extremities, long tears to joints and rear flap, bumps and short tears to edges, a few short tears. Emily Carr was born of English parents in Victoria, most English of Canadian cities. The sea, the fishing villages, the Indians and the forests of Canada's West early claimed her as their own and her whole life was passed in an effort to express her love and her feeling for those things and for Canada. In Growing Pains, completed just before her death in 1945, we have Carr's own story.
