Oliver Phelps Brown (1823-1878) was a renowned herbalist of the Victorian era. Each edition is filled with illustrations, poems, stories, explorations of new discoveries, political reports from around the world along with plugs for Dr. Brown's healing herbs. "Set in close, condensed type (with) splendid illustrations… (of) interesting and varied in its topics..." Cover edges worn to board but not frayed. Remains snugly bound. Papers are toned a very few have short tears, one repaired. Some of the original paper folds remain clear, there are a few smudges and stains throughout the volume showing use. This is an exceptionally nice exhibit of primary source material. Also of interest to those who collect Brown's ointment jars ; 4to- 9 ¾- 12" tall. "; fair .
