"Handsome, charismatic, brave and daring - these were some of the qualities that made HO de Villiers the world's most exciting rugby fullback in the late 1960s, but if there was one special quality above all others that made him South Africa's most talked about rugby player of his era, it was almost certainly his genius for succeeding gloriously by defying the traditionalists and doing precisely what they said he shouldn't be doing." .

Description:
Don Nelson, Cape Town, 1977. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Fair/Poor. signed. Inscribed by Author(s)227 pages (complete). Inscribed by H.O. de Villiers on the frontispage. De Villiers was a legendary Springbok full-back (No. 15) rugby player. His career was cut short by crippling and very painful injuries. This coincided with the final isolation of apartheid South Africa in the sporting arena. He was part of the 1969/70 tour that was subject to intense and sometimes violent demonstrations. This biography is sure and sound. The dustjacket is genial with much wear and some tear. The faces are scuffed and marked. The dj is intact and secure. The board covers are much worn from storage. The spine is smart and tight. The papertrims are foxed. Inside, the contents are mild and contented, aside for some handling marks to the frontispages. The pages are clean, clear, certain, diligent, matey, companionable and engaging. fk. Our orders are shipped using tracked courier delivery services.
