by W F Kirby

Condition: Good/N

LONDON: W H ALLEN AND CO., LIMITED,, 1897 Vol V, complete with 32 fine colour printed plates and numerous illustrations in the text. Part of Allen's Naturalists' Library - also later known as Lloyds' Natural History. It included 5 volumes on butterflies and moths by the recognised expert W F Kirby. This volume contains the final part of Moths. In the traditional Allen's binding with marbled boards and a buckram spine with gilt titles. With colour printed frontispiece and 31 further colour plates. The binding has wear to edges and corners. The spine is dulled and a little pulled at top and bottom. The original black endpapers are present and there is a small signature to the top of the half title page. The text pages are largely unopened. The tissue-guarded plates are in very good clean condition. There is some browning to the tissue guard to the frontispiece which has offset to the title page but otherwise text and plates are largely free of marking or browning. A very good copy internally.
