Six months of the venerable illustrated magazine bound together in a rebound edition, formerly property of the library with lending pocket at front pastedown and rubberstampings. With dozens of engraved illustrations scattered throughout. In full blue cloth-covered boards. Textblock is firm and intact, though with dampstains and warped pages. --- This volume contains installments of the serialized novel by Alphonse Daudet: "Port Tarascon", translated by Henry James and illustrated by various artists (which is likely the first appearance in English of this novel); as well as numerous engravings by Frederic Remington. Harper's Monthly is the second-oldest continuously published monthly magazine in the United States; beginning in 1850 and continuing into the 21st century.
