London, England / New York, New York / Bombay, India: Longmans, Green and Company. Very Good with no Dust Jacket. 1896. First English Edition: First Printing. Hard Cover. 010057: No Dustjacket. Boards now protected by a new Brodart Archival Mylar Cover. Boards are dark blue cloth (dark on front and back but lightly faded on spine) with beveled edges and embossed gilt lettering on front and spine. Black endpapers. Boards and pages are clean, unmarked, bright (except as noted above), tightly bound and sharp cornered. Has a prior owner's (Raymond J. Schweizer) bookplate neatly adhered to inside of front board. Illustrations include tissue-protected frontispiece and 14 additional full-page drawings by Amy Sawyer. Contains 347 pages of text, followed by a 24-page catalogue of other Longmans' published works of the time. This edition was published 27 March 1896. This is a "Lost Race" fantasy set in a Mayan golden city under a lake, that was originally serialized in Pearson's Weekly 1894 - 1895. Scarce, Out Of Print, Book. : B&W Illustrations: 5.25 x 7.5 in.: 347 pages .
