The Heckman Story

by Pelkey, Mildred (Heckman), compiler and editor

Condition: See description

no city, NE: Self-published by the author, 1978. Paperback. Unpaginated, consisting in 214 charts reproduced four to a page recto and verso, plus several hand-drawn line maps, a dozen plates from period photography, a terminal index, and prefatory materials: perhaps eighty pages in all, softbound in a generic paper folder with printed titling. Contents are good with milld signs of handling and some foxing to text margins; cover is worn with handling, dust-soiled with small stains, and the overlapping edges bear numerous short closed tears. The quintessential "reading copy" Pelkey starts with nutshell background, what was going on: the Thirty Years War, crimes against agriculturists by state and church, a mass exodus from the Pfalz or "Palatinate of the Rhine
