Corners lightly bumped and rubbed, large rub at top of spine, some staining to rear cover and ink stain at base of spine, light foxing. ; Second printing, October 1926. Burgundy cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine and coat of arms to front, rough cut leaves with gilding to top of reading block. Gift inscription to front endpaper "George Noble with much love from Alfred Cochrane. Christmas, 1927." Alfred Cochrane played cricket for Derbyshire, Oxford University and Northumberland and was the secretary of the Armstrong Whitworth armaments company, at the time he was a governor of his old school, Repton. George Nobel, Second Baronet, was his brother-in-law. Book plate for George Nobel to inside front cover. Very heavy book and priced accordingly. ; B&W Illustrations and Photographs; 356 pages; Henry Chaplin, 1st Viscount Chaplin was a British landowner, racehorse owner and Conservative Party politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1868 until 1916 when he was raised to the peerage. He was the subject of a well known scandal when his bride to be Florence Paget, ran off just before the wedding with his rival, but went on to have a happy and fruitful marriage. .
