Second issue binding with the blindstamp on front cover the same shade as the rest of the binding, although a lot of readers get lost in Steinbeck's symbolism at the end of the book, it has broad moments when his writing is as sharp as ever, jacket designed by Robert Hallock, Goldstone & Payne A23a, variant 2, this binding not recorded by Morrow. Fine in a jacket with some soiling to rear panel, else fine.

Connell, Jr.," profusely illustrated with photos by Jerry Stoll, inspired by Edward Steichen's Family of Man, most of the photos were taken during a six-month period near Telegraph Hill in San Francisco, this copy Inscribed by both Stoll and Connell, scarce. Very good.

Includes Frank Butler's screenplay for A Medal for Benny in its entirety, includes credits, setting, and text, 589-648, it also includes b&w photos from the film which was based on a story by John Steinbeck and his boyhood friend, Max Wagner, Goldstone & Payne B45, not recorded by Morrow, it also includes the screenplays for Lost Weekend, Spellbound, Double Indemnity (Raymond Chandler), and several others. Very good.

Includes Steinbeck's original screenplay (which is generally considered his best literature written after The Grapes of Wrath) and expert commentary by editor Robert E. Morsberger, includes frontispiece photo of Zapata as well as photos from the 1952 20th Century-Fox film which starred Marlon Brando, this copy Inscribed and Signed by Morsberger. Fine.

Illustrated by Maurice Sendak internally as well as on both endpapers and dust jacket, with all the proper first edition points ($1.75 price on jacket with both 30-70 No. 5226A code on front jacket flap and No. 5227A code on rear jacket flap). A very pleasing copy.

The first full-length critical study of Steinbeck, Goldstone & Payne F42, Morrow 591, very scarce in the first printing, this is a Review Copy with review slip, very scarce thus. Fine in a very good jacket.

Stanford, Stanford University Press, 1964, first edition, dust jacket. Hardcover.. Includes Robert Stone's first book appearance, Geraldine, as well as Walk Don't Run, both "excerpted from a novel which will be published by Houghton Mifflin Co. in the Fall of 1965," Colberg B13, one of 1,000 copies, although not called for, this copy is Signed by Wallace Stegner. Ink name, else fine in a very good jacket.

n.p. (NY), RCA Victor, 1955, first edition.. This is an original cast recording of Pipe Dream which was adapted from Steinbeck's novel, Sweet Thursday, by Rodgers and Hammerstein II, No. EP EOC-1023, includes three 45 rpm records housed in a folding slipcase, this copy carries the "SPECIAL ADVANCE EDITION" sticker on the front which some believe makes this a promotional copy, but, according to Miles Kreuger, president of the Institute of the American Musical, the cover credits omitted Judy Tyler's credit, these first issue album covers were then "fixed" by adding the advance edition label, inside liner notes by Rudolph Elie, Pipe Dream was presented in a number of formats, including this one, but none were in the Adrian H. Goldstone collection, this format not recorded by Goldstone & Payne or the Morrow catalogue. Records are fine, slipcase is near fine.

Second issue jacket with a lengthy commentary by John Steinbeck which is prominently featured all over the jacket (the first issue jacket is simply illustrated without being plastered with Steinbeck's praise for this experimental novel), Goldstone & Payne G30, not recorded by Morrow. Fine in a near fine jacket.
