About This Item

Norwalk, Connecticut: The Easton Press, 1996. [1996] Dark brown hardcover bound in genuine leather, 433 pages. [THIS IS THE 1996 FULL LEATHER BINDING PUBLISHED BY EASTON PRESS, NOT COMPOSITE LEATHER OR SIMULATED LEATHER] Vintage photos. Binding: Gilt designs, four ridges on spine. Lettering, designs stamped with accents of 22kt. gold - a hallmark of fine bookmaking. This genuine leather binding was hand selected from individually tanned hides. Textured and shaded, acid-neutral paper won't turn yellow over time. Pages are Smyth-sewn into the binding for permanence (not glued like ordinary books). Endpapers have repeating design of Presidential eagle. Edges gilded on three sides to enhance the book's elegance. Satin ribbon page marker bound in binding. Condition: Leather binding shows some handling wear: Some gilt on front and rear covers chipped or rubbed away (however, gilt on spine is fine). Two scratches to gilt on fore-edge; else book is Very Good Plus. Text is clear and very readable. Photos clear and vivid. Book kept in a temperature-controlled environment - free of the smoke smell of a previous cigarette or cigar smoker. The story of Herbert Hoover, the 31st President of the United States, is worth telling. While he did get an unfair review during his last three years as President, his life was spent as a tremendously successful engineer, entrepreneur, and an enormously popular servant specializing in humanitarian aid and social reform. Hoover was a man of enormous talent, ability, and energy who used his skills and experience wisely, including helping to relieve human suffering. Well-written and fascinating - and historical. Very collectible. Note: We are a well-established, well-respected, ethical book dealer in business since 1991. We describe the condition of our books thoroughly and honestly, so you'll know exactly what you will be receiving when you order. We ship promptly. . Leather. Very Good Plus.
