Edinburgh and London: William Blackwood, 1893. 8vo; 18 cm [x; 266 pages; 2 page publisher's advertisement for In Clover and Heather also by Consul Bruce] Red cloth with gilt-stamped lettering on front cover and spine. Spine slightly faded. First edition, signed and inscribed: "To Dr. George Dixon, with the esteem of the Author Wallace Bruce, Edinburgh July 18, 1893." Sold with an autograph letter on the stationery of the Consulate of the United States, Edinburgh, Scotland, Wallace Bruce, Consul, July 3rd, 1893, 3 pages, written to his friend, Edinburgh physician, Dr. George Dixon, thanking him for pointing out a mistake Consul Wallace made in a speech, using "chapel" for "palace." Both letter and book are in fine condition. This is a collection of lectures and poetry largely about Robert Burns, Walter Scott and Scotland.
