Garden City: Garden City Publishing Co., Inc., 1936. 1936 First Edition. SIGNED by Mary Margaret McBride who was known to radio audiences as Martha Deane. A NEAR FINE copy in GOOD+ dust jacket. Ms. Deane inscribed the front free endpaper in red pencil, "For Minna Westphal / Best wishes / Martha Deane." Underneath her inscription Vincent Connolly, the announcer for her radio show, inscribed in black ink, "and with best wishes from / Vincent Connolly." A clean, otherwise unmarked copy. Pages fine, firmly bound in orange cloth hardcover with title gilt-stamped on spine. Cover lightly edge-toned and rubbed but overall near fine. Binding and hinges firm, intact and straight. Jacket features lovely photo portrait of Martha Deane. It is clean and complete except for front flap which has been clipped. Jacket is edge worn with small creases, short tears larger chip and tears at top of spine, and scuffing along flap and spine folds. The jacket is in a clear archival protector. 5-3/4 x 8. ix + 299 text pages (including list of the radio program guests) and 3 full-page black & white photos. Signed by Author. First Edition. Hard Cover. Near Fine/Good+.
