About This Item

In this anthology Barry Cunliffe tells the story of Heywood Sumners life, introduces a selection of his writings on Wessex subjects and looks at his achievement as a naturalist, topographer and archaeologist. Fifty black-and-white illustrations and eight pages of colour plates show Sumner's delight in his adopted countryside. There are a couple of bumps to the base of the blue boards and the DJ shows shelf ware to its edges with a little creasing to its rear panel at the head.
