Seattle, WA: Marine Digest Publishing , 1952. First Edition First Printing . Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. This book is clean, tight, square with pretty good corners (lowers lightly bumped) and unmarked in a very good dust jacket in mylar. It is lightly rubbed. The dust jacket has edge wear with chips at the spine top. It has 323, bright, clear pages illustrated with black & white drawings and a section of black & white photos bound in blue cloth covered boards with gold titles on the spine and front. The author has signed the title page.

Thirty pages of b&w photo reproductions in rear. Index. Bound in blue cloth with gilt lettering on front cover and spine. Former owner's address label on front pastedown. Book was owned by a noted ship captain and his wife; minimal marginalia indicates his activity. The ship captain's business card is laid in. Some edge wear to jacket, else Fine. Chapters cover subjects as varied as "Sailing Ship Days on Puget Sound;" "Seattle Ship First Through Panama Canal;" "Seattle's Historic Black Ball Line" (the predecessor of today's Washington State Ferry Service and former operator of the Kalakala); and, our favorite, "Death Ship of the Pacific" -- an account of the "Ryoei Maru," a Japanese motor-sail vessel that washed ashore on the Vancouver Island coast, occupied only by the parched corpses of the crew.
