Hardcover. 8vo, 22.5cm, xvi,339pp., appendix, original blind decorated web grain green cloth, gilt spine title & pictorial (fishing) decorations, spine darkened (titles clear), some splashing on the upper board, edges worn, small stain at the gutter of the front endpaper, internally clean, a very good copy thus. Westwood & Satchell p33. The first of a series of fishing books by Robert Blakey (1795-1878), Professor of Logic and Metaphysics at Queen's College, Belfast. He is best remembered for his books on angling. "We love angling, too, because it takes us from the confusion, the filth, and the social and moral degradation of large towns and cities." (Intro). In four parts: -1. Description of Fish. -2. Materials for Angling. -3. France and Belgium -4. England and Wales, Scotland and Ireland.
