1842 1st ed History Algeria French Colonization France Hunting Battles Pirates
French Algeria lasted from 1830 to 1962, under a variety of governmental systems. France invaded Algeria in 1830 and from 1848 until independence in 1962, the whole Mediterranean region of Algeria was administered as an integral part of France, much like Corsica and Réunion are to this day.
This first edition was published in Paris at the beginning of France's colonization of Algeria with accounts of battles, hunting, and Arab life in Algeria. It is filled with impressive folding engravings and dozens of other engravings of landscapes, maps, and daily life.
