'The History of the Advent of the House of Bourbon' is a rare 18th-century account of the foundation and growth of the royal house. The House of Bourbon, which originated in France in the 13th-century, extended its borders into Spain and Italy, and included some of the most famous French kings including Louis XIV and XV.

This historical account was written by Jean-Baptiste Targe and includes biographical sketches of each of the major rulers through the reign of Louis XV as well as major events that expanded the boundaries of the House's rule – most notably the death of Charles II of Spain and the end of the Spanish Hapsburgs.
