Full calf leather binding, spine has five raise bands and gilt decoration to compartments, lacking title label. Slight wear to ends of spine, heavy dent with tear to bottom of rear board. Single worm hole affecting rear board and lower margin of most pages. Small loss to lower corner of page 342. Printed in red and black to half title, title page and dedication and preface pages. Engraved bookplate to front pastedown endpaper [Rev. Daniel Augustus Beaufort]. Horizontal crease to front free endpaper and half title page and corner of one page of text. Very clean text throughout, numerous illustrations of chivalric symbols. French language. The rare first edition. . Overall condition is Very Good.
