Red blindstamped cloth titled in gilt. Profusely illustrated with black and white head shots of camp staff and personnel of the Army’s 306th Coast Artillery Barrage Balloon Battalion. Many other photos of staff in classrooms, repairing balloons, operating winches, maneuvering balloons, marching in formation, in shelter tents, in mess halls, with tanks and vehicles, etc. Includes history of the Barrage Balloon Training Center. Barrage balloons were used more extensively in Great Britain during World War II as barriers tethered to steel cables that deterred low-flying military aircraft, but this book shows the American operations of this newly constructed Coast Artillery training center. WorldCat only locates two copies and no copies offered for sale in the trade at time of listing. ; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 66 pages .
