Good. hardback. 1st Edition. hardback, two volumes, first editions published in 1935 + 1939, quartos measuring 12 1/52 x 8 1/2", red cloth with gilt vignette and titles to spines, top edges gilt, lacking dust wrappers, although the bindings are uniform the fading is uneven, some edges remain unopened, small ownership stamp to head of front pastedowns, loosely inserted presentation letter from the Society, hinges just starting but the stitching remains tight, the text is clean and unmarked, volume one contains xix, [i], 374 pp, 6 maps, 34 plates. volume II with xv, [i], 548 pp, 7 maps and 37 plates. A large heavy set which, if ordered from overseas locations, will attract a request for additional postage..
