New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1884. First edition. Quarto. 217 pp. Full maroon cloth, gilt-stamped on front cover and spine. With 8 sepia tone photographs mounted on hard stock paper. Top edge gilt. "Chas H. Grierson U.S. Army" stamped on front paste-down. Spine sunned, edges bumped and covers rubbed. A few plates loose but still in tact. A very good copy with early military photographs.
