About This Item

The books in this set are in good condition. There is significant wear on the front, back, spine and edges of the cover boards on all the books in this set. The corners of the cover boards are all bumped considerably in the set. The previous owners name is written on the inside of the front cover board and on the first end page of all of the books in this set. The pages are yellowed and tanned, but there are only a few markings in this five set volume.

"I purpose to write the history of England from the accession of King James the Second down to a time which is within the memory of men still living. I shall recount the errors which, in a few months, alienated a loyal gentry and priesthood from the House of Stuart. I shall trace the course of that revolution which terminated the long struggle between our sovereigns and their parliaments, and bound up together the rights of the people and the title of the reigning dynasty...." - Chapter 1, Volume I from The History Of England: From The Accession Of James II in Five Volumes
