Republication (by subscription) as a second, enlarged edition of a work first published in 1914 (i-x, then 214 pages, compared with the first edition pagination of - xxi, 1-149). The original intention had been for a 4-volume work. Green cloth-covered boards, gilt titles to spine, illustrations, Special Section with photographic reproductions of the Gravesend Charters. Related article (The Long Ferry by E C Watt, East Coast Digest and Greenwich Times, Vol 1 No 2) left laid in, together with some postcards showing some of the Gravesend ferries, including two car ferries. Condition notes: Boards a little rubbed at extremities, bibliographical note in pencil to front free end paper. The postcards are unused and in excellent condition.
