The books are undated but Geofrey Beare's bibliography of W. Heath Robinson dates this edition to 1913 and is a smaller version of the magnificent large format 1904 Grant Richards edition. Illustrated throughout with 94 line engravings by John Tenniel, each with double ruled line borders printed in red and blue. A lovely clean copy finely bound, by Maurin, in contemporary full dark blue morocco. Spine with two raised bands, each with gilt wavy lines. Compartments ruled, lettered and decorated in gilt, including the March Hare within a floral border. Double ruled gilt border on both boards with circular gilt illustration of Alice carrying the pig on the front board. Board edges with gilt ruled line. Gilt inner dentelles and double ruled borders. Multi coloured floral endpapers. Top edge gilt. Purple silk page marker. A bump to the top outer corner of the lower board, but otherwise a near fine copy in an attractive mid twentieth century fine binding.

A fine copy of this expertly printed little volume in a highly attractive leather binding of beautiful full plum morocco by Lanscelin. Spine with five raised bands, each with gilt piping. Compartments ruled, lettered and fully decorated in gilt. Boards with triple gilt ruled borders. Stamped monogram to the front board. Board edges double ruled in gilt. Turn-ins with elaborate gilt roll. Marbled endpapers. All edges gilt. Orange, gold and green silk book marker sewn in. A fine copy, housed in a marbled paper covered slip-case. A marvellous piece of book production, both the text and the binding.

Longmans, Green and Co. London. 1889. FIRST EDITION, first impression. 8vo. (7.3 x 5.1 inches). viii, 390pp, 16pp publishers adverts at end dated August 1889. Illustrated with 8 full page mono plates and scores of smaller illustrations throughout the text by Ford, G. P. Jacomb-Hood and Lancelot Speed. Publishers decorated dark blue cloth binding with gilt illustration to the front board and spine, which is also lettered in gilt. The book has been professionally re-cased and has new plain white endpapers. All edges gilt. Some marks and spots to a few pages but overall this is a very good copy internally with the binding showing some wear and minor chipping to the extremities, particularly the top of the spine. Overall a near to very good copy of the first of Lang's colour Fairy books.

Henry and Co. London. 1893. FIRST EDITION. Octavo. Original blue buckram, lettered in gilt. Housed in a custom green cloth slipcase and chemise. Small bookplate to front pastedown, related bibiliographic material pasted to endpapers. Shaw's very scarce first play, published in an edition, according to Laurence, of "not more than 500" copies. It was not an overwhelming bestseller. Shaw wrote to John Lane (quoted in Laurence) that the publisher "never advertised it even once; and the sale, which was only effected by great perseverance & determination on the part of the purchasers, was 150 copies." When the publisher retired in December 1897, they ceded to Shaw 194 sets of unbound sheets, which Shaw claimed to have commissioned Sotheran & Co. to bind for him. Housed in a red cloth covered slip case with marbled paper lining. The spines are a bit rubbed and there are a couple of small scratches but overall this is an attractive set of this important collection. Only a few sets were issued in these publishers delux leather bindings and they seldom turn up on the market.

(9 x 6.2 inches). xciii, 372, 2 pp. Cheap war-time paper browned to the edges but overall a very good copy in publishers blue cloth with gilt ruled lines and lettering to the spine. In the rare original printed dustwrapper which has long thin areas of loss to the top of the front and rear panel and both inner hinges are split, but the wrapper is essentially complete. A scarce title in first edition, and rare in the original dustrapper. ---- A detailed study of Cinema in Britain during it's infancy, including the opinions of Children, moral guardians, and many British film makers of the day.
