Charles V was the ruler of both the Spanish Empire and the Holy Roman Empire. The first volume explores the view of the progress of European society from the subversion of the Roman Empire to the beginning of the sixteenth century. The second volume explores the history of the reign of The Emperor Charles V. Condition: In a half calf binding with cloth covered boards. Externally, generally smart with vert small patches of light rubbing to the spine. Minor bumping to the head of spine which has faded. Prior owner's inscription to the recto of front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright with spots to the first and last few pages. Otherwise, just the odd spot. Overall Condition: Very Good Indeed.
