Hardcover. Good/No Dust Jacket. Original leather covers are marked and have been inexpertly glued and taped at spine and hinges, loss on spine ends, corners are worn. Internal binding sound, all plates (& vignette) are present, pages are darkened but clean, darkened marbled block edges. Previous owner's bookplate (W H Smith Spalding) on inside front cover also a note "P E Bell Purchased at Richardson's Auction March 1953". The book begins with the apocryphal history (Bladud and the Ancient Britons). It covers Monastic Establishments, Churches and Chapels, Ancient and Modern Schools, Hospitals and other Charities, Public Buildings, Public Amusements (including Bull Running), Biographical Sketches etc. Includes additions and corrections.
