Woodstock, Virginia: John Gatewood, Printer, 1850. Second Edition. Hardcover. Good. Quarto. xxviii, 29-347 pages. Later red cloth binding with later white front and rear end papers. Black title label on spine. Top edge trimmed. Side and bottom page edges untrimmed. Light damp-stains to some page edges. Some chips to page edges 150-200. Title label on spine is chipped. Light edge wear to cloth extremities. On page 164 is a second title, "Notes on the Settlement and Indian Wars of the Western Parts of Virginia and Pennsylvania." (Howes D 390). According to Howes, Kercheval's book is "One of the best collections on early border wars; as it should be, being largely pirated from Doddridge."
