About This Item

U.S.A: Alfred A Knopf Inc, 1994. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo - over 7? - 9?" tall. Type: Hardback Fifth Printing of First US Edition. Hardcover Book in Near Fine Condition with a Very Good Dust Jacket. This masterful military history by one of the world's most distinguished historians is a sweeping view of the place of warfare in human culture and a brilliant exposition of the human impulse toward violence. His lively narrative gives the reader all the world's great warrior cultures, including the Zulus, the Samurai, the horse people of the steppes, as well as the warmakers of the West. Clean and unmarked binding of blue half cloth, gray boards, tight and solid, square with sharp corners. Rough cut. Front paste down has the remains of a name label. The bottom edge of the text block, towards the back, has a shallow indented area, but pages are not chipped; this can be seen when looking at the bottom edge, not the inside on the pages. Pages clean, no text markings or marginalia, no creasing. Clean jacket has light wear along top and bottom edges. 432 pages including References, Bibliography and Index. Alfred A Kknopf, New York, 1994.
