A slim pre-publication salesman's dummy (mock-up) of a work which eventually was published at about 966 pages. Includes sections bearing b&w photos, descriptions of campaigns and battles, blank service record pages (likely for returning veterans), color frontis Iwo Jima flag-raising photo, and blanks at rear of volume for the salesman to record orders. --- In full navy cloth-covered boards w/elaborate gilt-stamped decorations and titling on cover; mock-up of gilt-stamped spine embossed to rear cover. Irregularly paginated, but runs about 40-50 pages. --- With just a little discoloration and chafing to covers, else a firm, clean, bright copy. ; tall 8vo 9" - 10" tall; [40-50] pages .
