London - William Blackwood and Sons, 1918 Book. Very Good. Hardcover. Signed by Author(s). First edition.. A first edition of Klaxon's collection of naval yarns. Signed by the author on the title page. John Graham Bower, (18861940), an officer in the Royal Navy, wrote fiction and essays under the pseudonym 'Klaxon'. Condition: In a blue cloth binding with illustration to front board and gilt title detailing to spine. Externally, generally very smart with just minor shelfwear only; bumping to extremities, a little rubbing to the spine, and a few marks. The hinges have been reinforced. Internally, the binding is strained in places. The pages are bright and clean, with some discolouration to the endpapers and spotting to the fore-edge. There is a personal ink copperplate inscription to the front free endpaper, and the author's signature to the title page. Overall: VERY GOOD..
