Light blue paper over boards with white spine title and emblem of Barnard College on front cover. White dust jacket printed in purple. With, loose, a letter to the alumnae of Barnard College explaining that Elizabeth Reynard '22 had left a bequest to cover the publication of this collection of essays by Virginia C. Gildersleeve '99. Virginia C. Gildersleeve (1877-1965) was Dean of Barnard College from 1911 to 1947. She helped to found the Navy's female reserve officer's corps, WAVES, and was part of the United States delegation that helped to write the United Nations Charter. At Barnard she insisted that married women and mothers should be allowed to remain on the faculty and pushed to have Columbia University's professional schools opened to women. Book is in Near Fine Condition: a touch of sunning at head of spine and along upper edges of boards; clean and bright. Dust jacket is in Very Good Condition: lightly sunned and soiled; no tears and not price-clipped.
