London.: Frederick Warne and Co.. No date. Ca. 1880.. Hardcover children’s book, 9 3/4 x 7 1/4 inches, 30 cloth-backed pages with 23 color lithographic plates, including a double-page centerfold, plus six text-only pages. Color pastedown to front cover with embossed silver frame depicts children playing with toys. Three stories for children are featured in the volume: "The Book of Trades" (blacksmith, carpenter, tailor, etc.- all male); "Miss Mouser’s Tea Party"; "The Robins. A Family History." Top and bottom of spine lightly bumped, light rubbing to extremities; front free endpaper missing, pencil marks to cloth backing of one page, light marks to lower margins of a few pages (from page-turning), otherwise very good clean condition. Interestingly, the page illustrating "The Shoemaker" features an almanac hanging from a wall displaying the date "1878," hence a circa 1880 dating for the volume. An uncommon children’s book in very good clean condition with Miss Mouser and her tea party guests decked out in fine Victorian dress. .
