Philadelphia: Printed and Published by Mathew Carey & Son, 1818. 72 numbered pages. Pages 67-70 lacking. A few pages toned or stained. Bound in contemporary full maroon straight grained morocco with gilt rolled borders and gilt title and decorations to spine. Hinges weak. Covers scuffed and worn at edges. The Asher Mott Howell Family Bible: Asher Mott Howell (1791-1853) was a relative of abolitionist Lucretia Coffin Mott, and the subject of a portrait by American painter Jacob Eichholtz currently on loan to the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
